A Whole New Setting

I hated having to generically generate mockups for all of the artwork I have done so far. Since I have done some slight remodeling, I decided to create photography for all of my work in a more intimate setting.

Our parlor is in the midst of a complete redux with a splash of custom dark colors on the walls, and some charming dust catchers to promote a more macabre and intimate feeling. The rest of the house will have a more modern look having some of the same colors and a gallery white wall.

Why the change? Well, I jumped the gun and needed a way to photograph artwork in a live setting rather than having a website or photoshop to do most of the work. Having the ability to do this helps with creating a more organic feel to all of the content that I create.

The entire house is kind of my playground in that it is both my in-home gallery to display artwork for guests that visit, and so that I can take some great action shots. The parlor is planned to be a more intimate area of the house where there is wainscoting wrapped around the room. Painted in a dark carbon purple, it’s not a true black when the sun beams through the window. This allowed me to incorporate a darker more intimate setting for all of the artwork that I intend to take photographs of.

The rest of the house will feature the same dark color in the living room and dining room to capture a more modern appeal with a gallery white wall at the entrance to give contrast and an area where larger artwork can be displayed as guests walk in.

At the current moment, the house is a wreck with craft, painting, and art supplies strewn about. Not only that, our living areas have been totally deconstructed and will spend the rest of the week putting it back together.
